What is the tax offset of up to $1080 and how do I get it?

The 2019 tax season is already in full swing!

With 88% more tax returns lodged within the first week of July when compared to the same point as last year, it seems Aussie’s are keen for their refunds, but what has caused such a massive insurgence of lodgements?

Starting in the 2019 financial year Australian tax payers earning between $18,200 and $126,000 will be eligible for an increased low to middle income tax offset of up to $1,080. What this means for those eligible is that the offset will directly reduce the amount of tax they will pay to the Australian Tax Office, ultimately increasing your chances of being refundable.
